QUEBEC - The Film Festival of Quebec City (FCVQ) took off on Wednesday night by hosting the red carpet of the Palais Montcalm entire team of the film Café de Flore.Under the flashes of cameras and the applause of dozens of onlookers, the director Jean-Marc Vallée and actors Kevin Parent, Evelyne Brochu, Hélène Florent Fortier and Rosalie were the earliest stars of cinema to tread the red carpet at the opening of the festival.
For Hélène Florent Fortier and the young Rosalie, the evening had a special character because they are both from Quebec.
"It makes us a beautiful flower to have a beautiful red carpet like that. We can not wait for people to discover the Quebec film, "said Hélène Florent.
Parade of politiciansMany personalities were also part of the 700 people who attended the screening of Café de Flore.
We especially saw the mayor of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume, ministers Raymond Bachand, Line Beauchamp and Christine St-Pierre, Pierre Curzi MPs and Louise Beaudoin, as well as Julie Snyder and Pierre Karl Peladeau, President and CEO Quebecor, which is a partner of the festival.
"For us it is another string to our bow and it is a celebration of cinema," said Mr. Péladeau about the commitment of his company in the FCVQ.
Carried away by the enthusiasm of the moment, Régis Labeaume and Christine St-Pierre have predicted a bright future in latest film festivals.
"All hope. The way it goes with the quality of work of the organizers, it can go very far, "said the mayor of Quebec.
"Quebec has become a must and reputation on the international level is excellent. I think Quebec has what it takes to possibly be classified among the major festivals, "affirmed the Minister of Culture.
One of the organizers, Olivier Bilodeau, preferred to play it safe by saying that his team "focused primarily on this first edition," but he could not help adding that "the sky is the limit ".
The FCVQ continues until October 1, while the films will be presented each day at the Palais Montcalm, the Auberge Saint-Antoine, at the Theatre du Petit-Champlain and Clap.
