The consulting and IT services Talan bought the consulting and Software Engineering Technology Asset. The new entity created totals more than 450 consultants and expects a turnover of 42 million euros in 2011. Talan group specializes in consulting services and assistance in project management (consolidation and optimization of business processes to support major transformation projects, aligning information systems with organizational changes ...) on targeted sectors: telecoms, public sector, utilities and finance. The acquisition of Asset Technology, a specialist in issues related to computer banking and investment, allows it to expand its finance sector. Besides this complementarity to tender, the agreement meets the requirements for mass service delivery infused by major clients that reduce their panel of providers. Ambitious group Talan is a turnover exceeding 100 million by 2014.

Schools are yet to begin new syllabus though government has trained staff and created multimedia centres as strategies for effective take-off.
Innovations in general education have been made, and government is working hard to ensure the teaching of the subject in their schools is effective, but very few schools in the country appear eager to embrace the reforms. Information Technology is one of the subjects that the Ministry of Secondary Education has been working tooth and nail to ensure that it is introduced in schools to suit the changing times. Though challenges abound, efforts have been put in place to make sure that the teaching of Information Technology (IT) goes operational in schools in the country.
At the Ministry of Secondary Education in Yaounde, sources say trainers have been drilled on the use of IT. Another stride recorded is the creation of about 31 multimedia centres in the country. “Schools have computer rooms,” a source said while hinting that over 600 computers are being installed in schools nationwide. Notwithstanding, the Ministry of Secondary Education in collaboration with development partners like the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and other organisations that aim at implementing the use of Information and Communication Technologies in schools, have embarked on the construction of multimedia centres in the country.
As of now, only Lyceé Classique de Bafoussam, Lycée Bilingue de Bafoussam, Lycée Classique de Dschang, Lycée Bilingue de Garoua, Lycée Bilingue de Lagdo, Lycée Bilingue de Guider, College Moderne la Benoue, College Ste. Thérèse Garoua and Collège Protestant de Garoua, have introduced the teaching of the new subjects in their schools.
The situation remains worrisome to officials of the Ministry of Secondary Education. According to them, the learning of IT contributes to the amelioration of the quality of education as it is not only used as tool for the facilitation of cognitive development of learners, but also as a means of exposure to users. However, calls have been made for schools interested in the subject to indicate with the Ministry for measures to be put in place for the take-off of classes.

Microchip Technology Delivers 10 Billionth PIC ® Microcontroller

Microchip Technology Inc. announced the shipment of its 10 billionth PIC microcontroller to Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Microchip delivered this 10 billionth microcontroller, the 32-bit PIC32MX340F256, approximately 10 months after delivering its nine billionth.

This announcement demonstrates the industry’s continued acceptance of Microchip’s 8, 16 and
32-bit PIC microcontrollers as the high-performance, low-power, cost-effective solution for
embedded-control designs and, in particular, offers further evidence of the accelerating growth of the Company’s 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller line.

“The shipment of our 10 billionth PIC microcontroller is a remarkable achievement, and shipping it to a giant in the electronics industry like Samsung makes it even more satisfying,” said Microchip’s president and CEO Steve Sanghi.

According to Sanghi, going from nine to 10 billion in less than a year is a significant accomplishment for Microchip, as it continues to gain worldwide market share. “We have reached this milestone because our PIC microcontroller portfolio, MPLAB® development systems, direct sales and
